Wilsden says “cheers” for village hall funds

Cheers!A big thank you to everyone who came along to our Five Shires-themed fifth annual Wilsden Beer Festival on 30th May. The event was once again a roaring success, with the sun even deigning to shine for most of the afternoon, and attracted some 300 visitors. Visitors could enjoy a choice of 20 beers from Lincolnshire, Lancashire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and of course Yorkshire, as well as an all-day cafe and hog roast. Entertainment was provided by the Beer House Boys band from 7pm. Well done to Julie, Roger and team for once again making this a day to remember.

We can now announce the total raised at Saturday’s event……. £2500! All profits will go to the hall, a community centre and registered charity, to keep help guarantee its future for the many groups who use it.

We didn’t have one overall winner from the beers on the day as all proved popular, but there were plenty of requests for our local Bingley Brewery.

The winner of the wine and whisky raffle was a Mr Alan Asbury of Keighley.

We will shortly be starting plans for next year’s festival, which takes place in the hall’s 40th anniversary year, so please watch this space, or like us on Facebook for regular updates: Facebook.com/WilsdenBeerFest
