Support our appeal and help refurbish the hall!

IMG_1873-0.jpgToday Wilsden Village Hall announced the launch of a new fundraising drive, the 40 Candles Birthday Appeal, in the run up to the building’s 40th anniversary on 19th June next year. The appeal has been launched on a key date for the hall, 40 years to the day since the foundation stone was laid by the people of Wilsden.

The foundation stone was laid by 86-year-old Fred Varley and two pupils from Wilsden First School in a special ceremony on 6th July 1975

The appeal aims to raise £500 for every year of the hall’s life – £20,000 in total – to completely refurbish the ageing building, making it a brighter, pleasanter place for the more than 30 groups who use it on a weekly basis. These include the nursery, uniformed groups, dance and fitness classes, community library, walkers, youth club, after-school and holiday clubs, art group and many more.

Wilsden Village Hall is a brilliant venue at the heart of our community and we are lucky to have it. As a not-for-profit, self-funding charity, it relies on a combination of user fees and fundraising to cover its substantial costs.

The hall is held in trust for the people of Wilsden – it belongs to all of us and we all have a stake in its future. Together we can reach our target!

We are asking villagers and hall user groups to support the hall in one of the following ways:
